Natural rubber o-rings has many excellent physical properties, including high elasticity, high strength and good wear resistance. Similar to SBR, due to the existence of double bonds in the polymeric backbone chain, it has poor tolerance to hydrocarbon oil, and is not suitable for UV resistance, oxygen, ozone. However, its weather resistance can be improved by additives.Natural rubber oring(NR oring) is a latex from rubber trees known chemically as polyisoprene. Polyisoprene can also be copolymerized by monomer isoprene.
Chloroprene rubber is one of the first successful synthetic elastomers made by Dupont in 1931 under the trade name neoprene rubber. Chloroprene rubber oring( CR seal ring) is a multifunctional elastomer and its overall physical properties are quite balanced. For example, it has good sun resistance, ozone resistance, weather resistance, and good resistance to oil and many chemicals. It also has excellent physical toughness and good fire resistance.
Polyacrylate or acrylate rubber is a copolymer with two main components: the backbone (alkyl or alkoxy monomer ester) and the reactive vulcanization site. ACM seal ring has better high temperature and oil resistance than NBR. It can tolerate oxidation and ozone even at high temperatures, but its water resistance and low temperature elasticity are poorer than NBR. Special ACM materials can improve the low temperature elasticity to -40°C (TR10 value) without reducing the oil resistance and heat resistance.
Fluorosilicone rubber O-Rings(FLS/FVMQ) is similar in structure to silicone rubber in that its side chains are trifluoropropyl, methyl and vinyl. Mechanical and physical properties are similar to VMQ. However, the FVMQ has improved fuel and mineral oil resistance, but less heat resistance than the standard VMQ.
