The concave-convex surface type is a matching concave and convex sealing surface. Installation is easy to align, but also to prevent the gasket from being extruded. But the gasket is larger, need greater compression force. Suitable for high pressure situations.
The mortise and groove surface type has a matching sealing surface of the mortise and groove surface. The gasket is placed in the groove, and will not be squeezed out due to the obstruction of the groove. The gasket is relatively narrow, so the bolt force required to compress the gasket is correspondingly small. Even if applied to high pressure, bolt size is not too large. Easy alignment during installation. Gasket force is uniform, so the seal is reliable. Gaskets are rarely washed and corroded by the medium. Suitable for inflammable, explosive, toxic media and high pressure important seal. But the replacement gasket is difficult, flange cost is higher. In addition, the tenon part is easy to damage, in the disassembly or transportation process should be paid attention to.
This is a newer form of flange connection. With a matching convex surface and groove surface sealing surface, O - ring embedded in the groove. O-ring is a extrusion seal. Its basic working principle is to rely on elastic deformation of the seal, causing contact pressure on the sealing contact surface. When the contact pressure is greater than the internal pressure of the sealed medium, no leakage occurs, and on the contrary, leakage occurs. The process of changing the contact state of the O-ring by the medium itself is called "self-sealing". The sealing effect of O-ring is more reliable than that of ordinary flat gaskets. Due to the O-ring cross-section size is small, light weight, less consumption of materials, and simple use, convenient installation, disassembly, the more prominent advantage is that the O-ring has a good sealing ability, the pressure range is very wide, static seal working pressure can reach 100MPa, the applicable temperature of -60~200℃, can meet the use of a variety of media requirements.
